The Story Behind GHA

Needing to Re-learn How to Walk at 13 Years Old

A soft hum from the air conditioner filled my small cubicle room at the Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania. My eyes slowly began to open as I sensed an abnormal amount of tightness in my back. I realized my big surgery was complete. My entire spine readjusted, I would now have to relearn how to walk at thirteen years old. Moments later, a pain struck both my back and stomach. I turned my head toward the direction of my surgeon and asked for assistance. With a few head nods, he acknowledged my pain but stated there was nothing he could do to help me. Feeling hurt and alone in this physical and mental battle, I stared upon the blank ceiling wondering how many days I could deal with this pain without going mad. Little did I know, this situation would prompt me to form a health-related nonprofit that would ensure future pediatric patients would never have to feel alone and uncomforted during their hospital recovery.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
